3 celebrity make-up trendsetters
Always feel like you’re searching for a new make-up look but never seem to find anything original? Everyone feels like that sometimes. Whenever I open my make-up bag and become possessed by an unimaginative ennui, I like to browse through a few red-carpet pics and find some inspiration from the bunch of people who really know their stuff: celebrities. Who better to take visual make-up advice from than those whose lives’ work is to look beautiful and who all employ a make-up artist or six?
Whether you are one of a bunch of singles or happily settled down with a partner, here are a few celebrity trendsetters to rejuvenate your make-up look:
This bolshy pop phenomenon has wowed the world with her innovative and surprising styles. The hair, the costume and finally the make-up have inspired thousands of fans. For a perfect Rhianna-copycat look, you’ll need to be bold and daring. She tends to go for big, loud colours and apply liberally to lips, cheeks and eyes.
First, use a dark liquid liner on your lids and extend the line far beyond your lashes, creating a wing-like effect. Choose two bright eye shadows that complement each other, such as pink and dark purple. Put the darker of the shades along your lid and the lighter on your brow bone, blending the two together. A dab of the lighter colour beneath your eye will help emphasise the look further. Match with luscious lipstick and make your pout stand out with an accentuating liner. And voilà, you’re a Rhianna double!
Keira is queen of the natural, understated look. Although her style may be subtle, there’s no doubt of its effects. If you prefer to emphasise your natural features rather than go big and bold like Rhianna, Keira is the one to watch.
To emulate her flawless skin, make sure to moisturise thoroughly before putting on any make-up. Next, choose a natural foundation that matches your skin colour and apply a thin layer. Use powder to set and make the look as natural as possible. Use a quiet blusher in a pink or brown tone over the top of this, subtly emphasising your cheekbones. When it comes to eyes, you can be a bit more experimental. Choosing an autumnal palette, apply smoky eye shadow, with a darker colour on the outside of the lid and a light colour on the tear duct. Finish with mascara, a dab of pencil liner on the lower lid, and a nude lipstick.
For a more alternative look, try Christina Aguilera. She’s never been afraid of taking inspiration from just about anywhere. In fact, she looks her best when her make-up thoughts turn to the past. Have another watch of her Candyman video and you’ll see what I mean.
For her unique vintage style, go for bright red lipsticks, rouge blushers, and thick liquid eyeliners on the upper lids. Complement with a subtle eye shadow, and bright experimental accessories such as jewellery and headscarves.
Whether you’re Muslim dating or Christian dating, these three women are sure to inspire you to cutting-edge make-up styles.
