Monica Vinader’s Jewellery: Simplicity, Colour And Specialty Cut
Monica Vinader, a Spanish-born jewellery designer, has recently released a new collection Siren, inspired by the sea and featuring a selection of exquisitely cut stones such as amethyst, green onyx, chalcedony, white topaz and others.
All pieces of Monica Vinader jewellery can be personalised using a brand new engraving service. Before doing that, it’s worth learning a few facts about the brand and the personality behind its name.
Inspiration
Born in Spain, the jewellery designer has travelled a lot in her life. She spent some time in India, Morocco, South America and ended up living in Norfolk, England. She admits that Mexico “sets off a little bell inside her” due to its rich history, craft, food and culture. She has found great inspiration in the beauty of nature and “pops of colour” around.
Career
Monica is 46 now. She left Spain and moved to London to study art when she was 18. She launched her jewellery brand in 2002 with the intention to design bespoke jewellery for private clients. Her popularity made Monica change her mind. She managed to open boutiques in Madrid, Sevilla and San Sebastian in Spain. In 2011, she launched a standalone store on South Molton Street, London.
Success
Despite the abundance of jewellery brands in the world, Monica Vinader’s chic and sleek pieces have a huge fan base among celebrities including Olivia Palermo, Sheryl Cole, Fearne Cotton, Cameron Diaz, Danii Minogue, Claudia Schiffer and others. In 2009 Monica Vinader was named UK Jewellery Brand of the Year. Today, the brand also supplies jewellery to Europe, Japan, and U.S.
Concept
Each piece of Monica Vinader’s jewellery has a story to tell. Whether it is a bracelet from the Fijo collection or a gorgeous gemstone ring from Siren, each handmade piece makes a statement and can be worn from day to evening. Ancient symbols, signature shapes and bright colours make these items one of a kind. Additionally, Monica Vinader offers online customers the opportunity to create personalised jewellery.
Monica Vinader’s Siren is a line of elegant pieces in simple yet sophisticated shapes. Chic hand-made items already featured in Vogue are available since August both on the high street and online.
