Summer trends that are here to stay
We’re midway through summer and we’ve seen just about everything as far as fashion goes, from nostalgic 90’s revival to questionable cropped flare jeans. Some trends just don’t quite cut it whereas others make a lasting impression. Here are some of the best summer trends that have beat out the competition and found a permanent place in our wardrobe:
HIGH SLITS
When it comes to leggy slits, the thigh’s the limit! You can go classic with a single thigh high slit, or try the double front slits on for size. Perfectly paired with a high set of heels, slits are the ultimate maxi dress makeover feature. Try a high slit maxi dress that pairs a number of other ultra-chic trends like a plunging neckline or a matching set.
We love watching trends evolve over time, and the off the shoulder trend did not disappoint from its evolution from the cold shoulder. Flattering for warm to sizzling hot days, these off the shoulder styles are essential for those who like to show off a little without showing off too much. They’re the perfect excuse to get rid of those unflattering tan lines! Opt for crisp whites with eyelet or crochet lace details.
Didn’t think this one would last? Guess again! The trend that had us all enthusiastically rolling out of bed and straight out the door is still running at full throttle. To take a break from the extra luxurious silk or satin numbers (they’re expensive!), try a breezy shift dress with a shorter length and dainty straps. Slip dresses are perfect for layering with a basic tee or grunged up with your favorite distressed band tee.
Like the 90’s revival, the retro denim trend is still going strong. We’re in love with updated bodycon dresses in chic, true blue denim washes, and floor length jumpsuits with strappy backs! Find one with just the right amount of stretch for ease and comfort. A girl’s gotta move, right? Right.
It might be unsurprising that the lace-up trend has found its way on this list. If you’ve tired of seeing it around, consider it’s new updates with reverse ties (the tied end goes on the bottom, not the top!) or lace up features in reimagined places like deep side cuts! This trend lets you show off just the right amount of skin without looking like you’re about to fall out of your clothes. So go ahead, tie it up, ‘cause the lace-up trend is strapped in for the long haul.
